West Virginia's 2009 Official State Travel Guide, published by Miles Media, has been recognized with a district-level ADDY award – a first for the tourism publisher. The district is comprised of the entire state of Florida and the Caribbean. Miles Media has won several ADDYs on the local level.
The travel guide's seasonal gatefold spread (called "Changing Seasons") garnered the award, a Silver ADDY, because of workmanship and visual impact. The striking composite image shows the small, scenic town of Harper's Ferry across all seasons. The complex project involved evaluating multiple locations across the state, choosing an angle and then shooting it in all four seasons. The follow-up work required the meticulous stitching together of all the pieces. The goal was to deliver a dramatic, inspirational four-page fold-out spread that communicates the perennial beauty of West Virginia to the whole country and beyond.
The award was made possible by the efforts of the Miles Media design team and photo editing team as well as West Virginia's state photographers. Their longstanding efforts have made the state's travel guide an award-winner since Miles Media starting producing the publication.
The ADDY Awards Competition is the industry's largest and most representative competition, recognizing creative excellence and the very best advertising worldwide. Miles Media has also received accolades from many other leading industry organizations – and for many of its clients. In early 2009, the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) recognized four Miles Media programs with Adrian awards. In late 2008, the Web Marketing Association (WMA) recognized Miles Media with four Standard Of Excellence awards for website development.
